Global R&D center construction gains pace as Huaqin Technology makes plan of moves in Shanghai

Excavators, slot milling machines, drilling machines, and many other pile foundation construction facilities are operating at full load in the sun near Huanyexi Road, Lvke Road, Beicai Town, on the Huaqin Technology Global R&D Headquarters construction site covering an area of about 48 mu (approx. 3.2 hectares).

The numbers of workers and mechanical facilities for the global R&D headquarters project, which was kicked off in January and resumed construction in June, have continued to rise, to 250 constructors as of the press time. To avoid the high temperature, the project took the initiative to adopt nighttime construction at the site, with workers and supervisors following a simultaneous two-shift mechanism for site management. The on-site construction speed, as well as the scale of manpower and machinery have all exceeded the level before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project, once completed, will make full use of Shanghai's advantages in gathering domestic and foreign talents and developing the integrated circuit industry, and focus on the cutting-edge whole-machine technology of innovative electronic products. It will deepen strategic cooperation with world-class technology players and create a national and global advanced technology innovation platform eyeing the future. Meanwhile, the project will also focus on improving the comprehensive capabilities of the headquarters and upgrade the 1+5+5 intelligent hardware ecosystem centered on Shanghai and reaching out to the whole world, so as to elevate the headquarters' resource allocation capacity in the global industrial chain.

During its 17 years of development in Shanghai, Huaqin has made full use of Shanghai's headquarters economy and industrial clusters to improve the headquarters capacity and actively explore integrated development of "technological innovation + high-end intelligent manufacturing" in Shanghai. In addition to the Global R&D Headquarters, the construction of the Lingang R&D and Manufacturing Base and the Lingang Offshore Trade Center is progressing in an orderly manner.

Huaqin Lingang R&D and Manufacturing Base will focus on the automotive electronics and consumer electronics fields to explore new paths for integrated development of "technology R&D + high-end intelligent manufacturing". It strives to offer three-in-one comprehensive services integrating hardware product R&D, software services, and high-end manufacturing of "Automation Lighthouse". The project is expected to be fully completed and put into use in 2025. By then, it will become the first R&D headquarters integrating R&D, manufacturing, trade, and supply chain in the automotive electronics field of Lingang New Area, and the first successful case of "Dual-drive Linkage of Zhangjiang-Lingang" in the field.

Huaqin Lingang Offshore Trade Center closely follows the positioning and policies of offshore trade center development in Lingang New Area and strengthens Shanghai Pudong's comprehensive role in Huaqin's global layout step by step to meet its global business development needs. The Center is planned to follow a 1+1+2 pattern covering "one center, one headquarters, and two platforms" functionally, namely Huaqin Lingang Offshore Trade Center, Huaqin International Trade Headquarters, Huaqin Centralized Procurement Platform, and Huaqin Industrial Integration Platform. The Center will explore to establish new platforms, new services, and new models for offshore trade step by step.
